Teachings
Below are some of the most important texts written by Sri Ramana, in which he expresses his teachings in the most comprehensive, clear and consistent manner. Reading this texts can help us understand the practical aspect of his teachings and why self-enquiry is the direct path to self knowledge.
Nāṉ Ār? (Who am I?)
This text contains the original teachings given by Sri Ramana to a devotee named Sri Sivaprakasam Pillai in the year 1901. Sri Sivaprakasam Pillai, after the request of other devotees, published a compilation of twenty-seven questions and answers in the year 1923, but these were later written in an essay form by Sri Ramana himself. The link above is the essay version translated in English by Michael James.
Uḷḷadu Nāṟpadu (40 Verses on Reality)
Uḷḷadu Nāṟpadu is considered by many the most important work of Sri Ramana in which he explains in a very simple, clear and coherent way the practice of self-investigation (ātma-vicāra). This is a translation by S.S. Cohen.
